Update
March 28, 2006 6:45 amGrades have been updated Wednesday March 29 @ 7:25 am.
Okay I got fooled. I thought the grades were due this week for the quarter, on Tuesday, so I have been working to get my final grades for the quarter done and have not updated the site. Now I find that I am a week early. Quarter grades are due in by teachers next Tuesday the 4th.
10th English: Last week was pretty much a wash with the HSEE, Monday I was sick and assigned a movie for the sub to show. I had the kids copy a book report format off the board and apply it to the movie…so students would know how to do the extra credit book report they are allowed to do in my class. Each student can turn in one. Tuesday and Wednesday were the High School Exit Exam (HSEE). This process threw lots of classes out of alignment. In my case period 4 was 2 hours behind periods 3 & 5. On Thursday I had students finish watching ET and went over what I expected on the movie write up. On Friday students read each other’s personal narratives and I read a few of the good ones in front of class, and collected them. Period 4 was behind still watching the movie.
On Monday Period 4 was still catching up, they finished watching ET, were given an extra week to turn in the movie report, but it is HOMEWORK, and due Friday. They had time to start what periods 3 & 5 did. Periods 3 & 5 read the poems "For the New Year 1981" & "Pride" we worked together on the worksheets to prep for the open book test which happened the same period. The worksheets for these two poems will be collected Friday. Today, Tuesday, period 4 still tries to catch up and period 3 & 5 start with the next poems. I will update with specifics.
Computer Applications: We are starting to grade lessons 5 & 6 in word today, have them ready.

Update
March 16, 2006 9:02 amThe site was down! Well its back now. We finished reading "the Pit and the Pendulum" and took a test on it on Tuesday. I then assigned the Narrative essay. This is a 10th Grade English Required writing piece. It is a realistic story written in either 1st or 3rd person. It doesn’t need to have been true, but it could. On block days, students will pre write for 20 minutes, write a rough draft for 40 minutes, and then on Friday bring a completed draft for other students to read during class. Students are encouraged to edit each other’s work, then bring home their edited narratives. They are to be typed over the weekend and turned in on Monday March 20th. With the last part of the blocks, students read 2 poems, "The Sonnet Ballad" and "Do Not Weep Maiden for War is Kind" there are worksheets assigned and due Friday. There is a test on these two poems at the end of the period on block days. On Friday the following worksheets will be collected: "The Pit and the Pendulum" - Appositives 98 & Essential and Nonessential Appositives and Appositive Phrases 99, Word Origins 62, Grammar Skillbuilder Appositive Phrases 14 & Context Clues 61, Literary Analysis 12 & Active Reading 11, WTK 13 & Selection Quiz 15. "The Sonnet Ballad" and "Do Not Weep Maiden for War is Kind" - Active Reading 16 & Lit Analysis 17, and Reference Aids Foreign Terms 18.
Computer Apps students turned in the first part of Microsoft Word, and I posted the grades. I am now starting to collect lesson 4.

Update
March 8, 2006 8:22 amGrades are posted, please check to find out if there is anything you can make up to improve your grades! These are the grades I used to fill in the progress reports. Progress reports should be given out to students soon, teachers turned them in on Tuesday before midnight.
10th Grade English: continue to read "The Pit and the Pendulum." I will hand out worksheets on "The Pit" during block days and students will work on them in class. These sheets will be due Friday for those who do not finish them. The test will most likely be during block days near the end of the period after students have had a chance to work on the prepatory worksheets and ask me any questions. I will update this post with the actual names of the worksheets later today.
Computer Applications: Continue to work on your own pace, after Excel activities, we are skipping the Access unit until later, and will be starting Powerpoint. I will continue to grade assignments for Word in class.

Update
March 7, 2006 6:22 amThe grades will be updated today/tomorrow. I, like all the teachers have to turn in grades for progress reports by midnight tonight. We expect the students to have the progress reports by Friday. I did not update the "grades" part of this site as I had to still use the scantron grader to enter the last tests for Twelfth Night in my English classes, and am still grading assignments for Computer Applications, I will have these things graded and entered today after school and will have current grades on my computer at school. After I transfer them home, I will be able to post fresh grades on this site.
10th English will: begin to read the story "The Pit and the Pendulum" and work on associated worksheets/study for the test. I will update this post with what I am collecting Monday. I anticipate taking the test for "The Pit…" on the block days.
Computer Applications: I will continue collecting lessons 4,5 & 6 through this week. I started grading these assignments on screen last week, so watch for grade changes.
Don’t forget students have Friday this week off, unless they are participating in some way with Senior Projects.
