February 27, 2006 8:20 am10th English: The Act 3 tests on 12th Night went according to plan on the block days last week. On Friday I did assign something a little different, I had the students do a plot diagram of the many sub plots that intertwine in 12th Night. It was supposed to be a graphical "map" of what happened in the play up until the end of act 3. I collected it on Friday. The students will be getting points for the diagram, then get them back. They will have to finish off the diagram (we are not done with the play yet) and then write a plot summary from that diagram when the play is finished, I would guess Monday or Tuesday next week. Today we read act 4, which is short. Then we will be watching the movie for Act 4, and if there is time left, students will be studying for the test for Act 4. The test is planned for Tuesday. I anticipate students picking new parts and beginning to read Act 5 on Tuesday while working on Act 5 Study Guides, and finishing off act 5 on the block days (Wed, Thurs). If there is time left over they will be finishing off the plot diagrams for the play, and beginning the plot summary of the play. The test for Act 5 will be on Friday if all goes according to plan. If there are adjustments, I will update this post with another.
Computer Applications: the collection of all Introductory Microsoft Office "Word" assignments (6 lessons, a dozen assignments) was postponed. It was supposed to be Friday, but Mrs. Wooldridge had a sub, so it will be Monday or Tuesday this week. I will talk to her and update this post.
Update: I will start grading these assignnments on Tuesday this week.

February 21, 2006 7:57 amGeneral announcement: the grade side of this site was only working for some of my students, some had difficulties. I worked on it this weekend fixed all that I found wrong, and have not found any more glitches. If there are other problems, please email me and let me know rickwhite@simi.k12.ca.us The grades are accessable, follow previous post’s instructions on how to access grades.
10th Grade English: The Shakespearean Play 12th Night is going very well. Most of the kids are really beginning to understand the language and with the study question/test format, they are following the plot and understanding it. We are in Act 3, we took the test on Act 2 last week on blocks as expected, reassigned parts and began reading Act 3 and completing Act 3 Study questions. They will be continuing to complete study questions through Tuesday and into Wednesday. They will then watch a portion of the video (Act 3) and then study for 20 minutes and take a multiple choice test on Act 3. I predict the test will be on the block days 2-22, and 2-23, but there is a chance it could go to Friday. I am not collecting the study guides, they are just that, study guides for the students to know what they will be tested on. I know how well they used them from their performance on the tests.
Computer Applications: The first few assignments that I collected have been graded and posted on the website, check your grades. If there is a problem with accessing the site, let me know so I can fix it as soon as possible. Your first unit is going to be due soon. Both I and Mrs. Wooldridge teach in that lab during different times of the day, so we try to coordinate when we do collections. We have a tentative collection date of Friday this week, if that is changed, I will update you. 6 lessons with up to 2 assignments in each, the first page of Introductory Wordprocessing in your curriculum binder is due at that time.

Computer Applications classes need to be finishing off their basic keyboarding tests and starting the curiculum. The first collection for all 5 word lessons, which include over 10 assignments, is due in 2 weeks.
10th Grade English classes have finished Act 1 of 12th Night and taken a test on Friday. We are starting Act 2 today, and students will get a new study guide today. We will read the act as a play in class, students will fill in the study guides and we will be having a test on Act 2 on Tuesday or the block day depending how long it takes to get through the act. The study guides will not be collected for credit, they are only useful for students to use to study for the tests.

First Post Spring 2006
February 8, 2006 11:41 amWelcome to my classroom website for 10th grade English and Computer Applications. I will be making announcements on assignments, when they are assigned and when they are due on this page.
To access student grades, click the “student grades” link. At the next page you will be able to enter a student’s login which is the student’s last name. The password must also be entered which is the school ID number. To gain access you must “click” the “check student grades” button. Pressing “enter” after typing the student ID number will not get you in to the grades. New students to my classes and second semester accounts will be operating by the end of this weekend 2-8-06
Worksheet assignments and other study materials are always collected on Fridays. This Friday, the worksheets for “Witness for the Prosecution” are due. They are: Quiz 35, Synonyms 80 & Antonyms 81, WTK (Words to Know) 33 & Noun Clauses 34, and Lit Anls. & Active Read 31.
Edit: These worksheets were actually due last Friday, my mistake…however if they are still kicking around, please turn them in for half credit.
