Final Update Fall 2005
January 30, 2006 6:48 amFinal grades have been posted to the grades link for all 10th grade English classes and Computer Applications classes. They also have been uploaded to the district server already. These grades will become permenant on Tuesday. The latest that I can make any changes to them is Monday January 30. If there is some sort of problem or discreapancy it must be fixed by January 30 so please check those grades!
Special note Computer Applications: The server had "issues" and I am not sure how much that affected student performance in putting work on the server. I was able to get all work off the server, but there were a startlingly low number of final exams on the server. Students will recall that one of the standards for the class is file sharing and transferring, and that I specifically stated I would not grade anything not on that server in the folder for the class. It was the student’s responsibility to check to see that their work was on that server, and if it was not, to tell me they had a problem so I could do something about it while there was time. I was not informed of any problems. Due to the situation, I adjusted my grading as follows: The final became a last "tweak" on the grade, if students needed a few percent to rise to the next grade, I checked out their final and gave them the few percent if they did well. If students were far below the next grade level I left their grades. I did not lower any grades due to the final. I thus do not have the final listed in the end grades/assignments for the term.
Special note 10th grade English classes: My students will recall that in my English classes the final is a last "tweak" on the grade, if students needed a few percent to rise to the next grade, I checked out their final and gave them the few percent if they did well. If students were low and close to the next lower grade (i.e. at 70.1%), I checked the final to see if they did well; if they did well, they kept their grade if they did not their grades were lowered to the next lower level. Again this was only for people within a percent or two of the next lower grade. I thus do not have the final listed in the end grades/assignments for the term. They have been graded and are in my room if you wish to see your results.
