Update
October 23, 2006 6:06 amNew Grades have been posted.
The week went much slower than I planned. The movies took much longer than I had hoped so here is a recap of how the week went and how this week starts. The electronic bookshelf database became corrupted, and when files were restored, the data was lost all the way back until June of last year. I am in the process of re entering the passwords and creating my classroom accounts for all 180 of my students. It will take a while, but should be ready some time this week.
10th Grade: We started the week Monday by finishing the movie Armageddon, we are doing a "book report" on it as a class assignment, using the book report format that students can use 1 time for an extra credit book report for the semester. We wrote the book report on block day in class. There were no journal entries this week. Students received new Verbal Advantage words for a Verbal Advantage quiz on the block days. On Friday, students read "Through the One Way Mirror" and "Borders." They also worked on worksheet materials and turned in the Active Reading, Literary Analysis, Selection Quiz and Words to Know worksheets Friday. There will be a journal check on Monday and a The test on “Through the One Way Mirror” and “Borders” will be on Monday. Students will start reading the next piece "No Witchcraft for Sale," on Monday.
12th Grade: We started the week Monday by watching the movie Chronicles of Narnia. We are doing a "book report" on it as a class assignment, using the book report format that students can use 1 time for an extra credit book report for the semester. We wrote the book report on block days in class. There were no journal entries this week, and no journal check Friday. Students received new Verbal Advantage words on block days and took a Verbal Advantage quiz on the block days. Worksheets on "The Pardoner’s Tale" from last week were finished on Friday, collected, and there was a test on it on Friday. Special Note: Seniors were given expectations on creating a thesis statement on the block days, and were asked to turn in a draft of a thesis statement on Friday. Monday seniors go to the library for a workshop on using the library’s professional databases on the computers for their required research papers. There will be a journal entry on Tuesday, and seniors will get new verbal advantage words on Tuesday. I also will have a small workshop in class on thesis statements on Tuesday. The classes may start to read "The Wife of Bath’s Tale" on Tuesday and get worksheet/study materials on that day, and probably there will be a test on "The Wife of Bath’s Tale" on Friday.
